Running For My Life (plus a cool video)

Posted by: | Comments (11)

There is a really cool video called Dare-Change that has been kicking around the web for a while that brings me to tears every time I see it, because it reminds me of something from my child hood; a powerful event that made me the neighborhood hero for one summer and shaped the way I deal with fear and challenges to this day.

I’m curious how you deal with fear and challenge?

Do you step away from it- or as in my story below; run for your life- or do you take a stand and meet it head on?

Here’s my story of running for my life-

It was a beautiful summer afternoon in 1978.

I was 13 years old and I was setting out to do my paper route. Somehow I had managed to convince a bunch of the kids in my neighborhood to come with me. There were 8 of us laughing and screaming and having a grand old time.

At the beginning of my route, there was one long stretch of road that we considered to be the danger zone.

There was a scary house up a long driveway with a crazy old man living in it. He had a bunch of mean attack dogs penned up in the yard. They would bark and howl whenever I would walk by.

It was scary!! Our parents warned us to stay away from that house because there were all kinds of stories about the dogs attacking people!

As the gang of us approached the house, we quieted down our laughing and shouting and tried to sneak by unnoticed, but it didn’t work! The dogs started barking and howling, and next thing you know they were running down the long driveway after us!!

“Holy Shit!!!!”

We all looked at each other in panic and someone yelled RUN!!!!

All 8 of us took off in different directions.

I was running for my life!!

I sprinted down the road  faster than I’d ever run before.  I glanced back and saw a big German Shepard coming after me; barking and gaining fast! I was petrified! I knew that if that dog caught me I would be dead meat.

I was getting panicky; the vicious beast was right behind me! He was nipping at my heals.

Then something switched over inside of me. I was still scared but I knew that running was not the answer.

I need to take a stand!

I stopped dead in my tracks and spun around and screamed right in the dogs face- “Get away from me!!”

I remember the dog looking me right in the eye, with a surprised look on his face. I prepared to be attacked, but the dog turned tail and ran away!

WOW!!! I was still alive and not bleeding! Whoot-hoot!!

Can I tell you how powerful I felt!!

Within the next minute or so the owner of the dogs drove up and called them all home. The ordeal was over!

The rest of the kids emerged from their hiding paces one by one in awe of my bravery and power! I was the hero for the rest of that summer.

From then on I stood up to my fear and any challenges that came along. I learned take a stand and meet it head on.

This came in handy later on in life when I was a bouncer at a cool Boston nightclub, but that is a different story( ask me and I’ll tell you about it sometime).

Here’s the video-bet you can’t make it through without tearing up!

Did you get through without crying?

I’d love to hear YOUR  stories of dealing with challenge and fear in the comments below.

My Secret Weapon for Rocking Out 2012

Posted by: | Comments (0)

It would be totally cool if  2012 was the most amazing, expansive year EVER for you and for me.

I’m already certain that it will be.

I’m so not buying into the stories going around that say the world is going to end, or that civilization will collapse.

I’m not afraid!!!  I beleive that we are moving on to bigger and better things. I’m optimistic and planning for a kick-ass year!

What about you?

I do think I might have an unfair advantage in all of this. It’s a secret weapon that keeps me in alignment with all the juicy goodness available to me.

It’s something I created a few years ago to help keep myself, and my clients, focused on feeling good and in alignment.  All it takes is 10-20 minutes a day to get big results.

And guess what?

I want to share it with you because I think you ROCK-

Whats Your Theme for 2012?

Posted by: | Comments (3)

Happy New Year!!!

What’s your theme for the new year?

My theme for 2012 is being fully self-expressed!

I prefer having a theme rather than resolutions. Mostly because I suck at resolutions!

In my mind, resolutions take willpower and that is not something that I have a lot of. I gave up on forcing myself to have willpower a long time ago. It’s just not how I operate. I get more done when I choose to focus on bringing more of something into my life! It’s more fun and expansive which is how I like to roll.

What works best for you when it comes to making changes?

The first thing I’m doing as part of my self-expression theme is to start flying my freak flag higher and prouder in my biz. It seems like the perfect place to start since flying your freak flag is all about self-expression and letting people see the real you.

Here are some of the things you’re going to be seeing more of from me-

I’ll be talking more about the law of attraction and how to work in harmony with it to create your freaky empire. This principle is the foundation of the work I do and it’s time I gave it the place of honor it deserves.

I’m changing my services around to better reflect how I love to work with people. Gone will be the group programs, and convoluted coaching packages. I’m going to be focused on offering Unfurl Your Freak Flag Sessions and Booster Packs. (Email me if you want to learn more about this!) There will be two other ways that people can work with me that I’ll be revealing in the future.

I’m ditching my podcast that has been sitting around gathering dust for the past 6 months. It was fun for a while but I’m ready to move on to something else now…..like being interviewed by other people!!!! Don’t worry; you can still listen to all the past episodes here.

I’m focusing on only doing things that I want to do rather than things I feel I need to do. Over the past few weeks I’ve really been noticing the difference between these two energies.

When I want to do something- like work on my new kick-ass email series-I feel excited and expansive. I can’t wait to get started.

But, when I feel like I need to work on that same email series, there is a sense of pressure and constrictive energy about it.

Typically the thoughts that come with the feeling that I need to work on it are based in the idea that if I don’t  work on the email series , then I’ll never get another client, or I won’t be able to grow my list or make money. Everything is contingent on my finishing that email series…..so I neeeed to do it! Can you feel the pressure there? I can’t produce anything kick-ass under those conditions!

Can you?

I invite you to notice when you are doing something in your biz because you think you need to do it, rather than wanting to do it. Which energy feels more expansive to you?

From a law of attraction perspective- which energy do you think is going to get you into your freaking fabulous empire faster? The expansive energy of -I want to do this- wins every time.

I’d love to hear what you’ll be doing more of in 2012!  Go ahead and share away in the comments below.

Some Love and Some Biz-ness

Posted by: | Comments (0)

Some love……

Happy Yule!

Happy Chanukah!!

Merry Christmas!!!

May you enjoy all the Peace, Fun, and Juicy Goodness that the holidays bring!

Some Biz-ness……

I wanted to let you know that I’m off on a mission and you probably won’t be hearing much from me over the next few weeks.

It won’t be because I’m not thinking of you! I picture you off enjoying the holidays just like me! I see you laughing, dancing, enjoying your friends and family, and drinking too much eggnog…… just like last year.

But, In addition to whooping it up,  I’ll also be off on a very important mission that will require all my focus and attention and I doubt I’ll have the time to write any blog posts!

I’ll be behind the scenes working my magic and creating something  new and exciting just for you.

Have no doubt that you will reap the benefits of it once it’s complete!

All I’m going to tell you is this- It’s going to help you unfurl your freak flag, make more money, and live a kick-ass life!

Ok…that’s all I have for now. I’ll be back soon with something very cool to share.
