How to Dominate Your World

Posted by: | Comments (0)

The World Domination Summit was such an amazing event and I can’t seem to stop talking about it.

I was surrounded by 500 creative, inspired people who were all saying YES to their dreams and the idea of living a Kick-Ass Life. The speakers all shared their own personal stories of transformation and what it took for them to find their version of a deeply satisfying life. It felt deeply validating to hear the processes  that I share with my clients reflected in their stories!

Here are some of the key points that I took away that you can embrace to help you dominate your own world.

1- Stop settling for an unsatisfying life! Claim the life that you want! You deserve it and can have it.

2. Focus on how you want to feel in the different aspects of your life. You don’t have to know exactly what you will be doing or how it is all going to happen. If you stay focused on how you want to feel in your life and look for the things that allow you to feel that way you will get much farther and discover many more opportunities for success.

3.  Make a list of all the things that; you don’t like to do, waste your time, drain your energy and aren’t in your skill set and stop doing these things. Free your energy up to pursue your passions and honor your strengths.

4. Change your habits so that they support the life you want to live. Do this one habit at a time. Take small, manageable steps towards changing things. Do this in an easy gentle way and celebrate every little success.

5. Celebrate what makes you different. Own your unique talents and gifts. Have fun with your differences and allow them to help make you extra-ordinary. This is where your special magic lies!

6. Be at choice in all things. Even if you find yourself in a negative situation make it your choice to be there, or get out.  As Danielle Laporte says “Love the Hell you’re in”. You are never a victim.

7. Stop setting big goals, but rather focus on what you are excited about doing each day, but if you must have a goal make it a feeling based goal. For example- Over the next 6 months I want to experience more freedom rather than saying in the next 6 months I’m going to quit my job and work for myself. Freedom comes in many forms. By setting the goal to find more freedom you are opening yourself up to many different possibilities.

8. Follow you heart not your head!

9. Stop asking friends, family and co-workers for advice about following your dreams. Only you know what is right and true for you. When you ask for other people opinions you invite all their fears, projections, and expectations into the conversation and that gets in the way of your making the right choice for you. If you need help making a decision an impartial outsider- like a coach – is a better choice.

10. Surround yourself with people who will say “YES” to your dreams and who will support you in living them.  Open minded, supportive people are essential when you are going after your dreams. Find the people who will explore the possibilities and help you create opportunities to live the life that you want to live. They are out there…you just need to look for them.

How many of these key points are you living right now?

If you are struggling to embrace any of these points I can help. I invite you to set up a Kick-Ass Consultation to discuss how I can help you dominate your world.

I suspect that if you’re like me, you want your life to be exceptional. Normal and ordinary just won’t do! Creating this kind unconventional life comes with its own unique set of challenges.

If you want to live an unconventional life, you have to accept the idea that you’re going to have to make it all up as you go along. There’s no guidebook for you to follow. You’re on your own path, and there is a lot of exploration, experimentation and evaluation that goes along with this process.

Let me use my desire to have blue hair as an example.

About six months ago, I decided that I wanted to switch things up and Defy the Box a bit more with some blue and purple color in my hair. I wasn’t trying to be a Punk Rocker or a Raver Kid. I’m 45 after all. I own my own business, and didn’t want my hair to be too distracting when I met with clients. I didn’t really know anyone who was doing what I had in mind, so I couldn’t go to my hairdresser and say, “I want my hair to look like this.”

Exploration

I was totally entering into unknown territory and I set out to explore my options. I looked at a lot of websites and pictures of people with funky colored hair. I started noticing people on the street with bits and pieces of color added to their bangs or the back of their hair. There were different shades of colors available and I researched which ones lasted the longest. I evaluated all of my options to determine which colors were the best fit for what I wanted. The Special Effect colors Blue Velvet and Pimpin’ Purple won out!

Experimentation

Once my exploration was done, it was time for me to experiment with these colors to see what would look best. I will admit that this was scary (but exciting). There were a lot of unknown factors to deal with. I wasn’t sure what it would look like or how people would react. I had my hairdresser start out small by just putting a little bit of color in the front. That went over well with others and I liked it, but I wanted to push things a bit further. Over the course of six months, we experimented with three different applications of the color. Mistakes were made and lessons were learned. There were some memorable moments during the process. Blue Velvet became a nasty green when I tried to strip it out of my hair, and it was really hard to color over. I also learned that the blue and purple color rubs off on everything it touches for 3 -4 weeks after you use it. Expect your shower to be stained the color of your hair.

Evaluation

Throughout this process, it was important to me to stay connected to my desired outcome for adding the Blue and Purple to my hair and to continually evaluate whether or not the results were in alignment with what I was going for.  I wanted my hair to be fun, sassy, and unique. I also wanted it to be easy to maintain. During the entire process, I would catch myself getting caught up in the idea of having a lot of blue hair, but once we tried that, it didn’t really work. I had to keep bringing myself back to a place of checking in and evaluating if the look at the moment was what I wanted. And finally we got it right! I have the perfect amount of blue and purple in my hair. I love it! It’s totally unique, and it feels like me.

I invite you to explore experiment and evaluate your way into an unconventional life. Where will you start?

Some Tricks for Dealing with the Unknown

Posted by: | Comments (0)

Recently I was having a conversation with a client and I asked her what she wanted more of in her life. I could feel the tension and struggle as she replied “I don’t know”.  I can sense that this is extremely frustrating for her.  I know that part of her thinks that she should know what she wants, but the reality is that in this moment she is stuck.

How many of you have felt this way?

It can happen when you are trying to identify what your Kick-Ass Life looks like, or you are wondering when you are going to find your next job opportunity.  You’re reaching for an answer that’s not there but you think it should be. It feels horrible to be in this place! Your energy feels very constricted and stuck.

You end up desperately searching for answers by grabbing at anything that comes along or you become immobilized by brain lock-down and you can’t move past the wall of not knowing. Neither one of these solutions works all that well

These Solutions do Work!

Here are a few that you can try that will help you effectively deal with the Unknown.

Embrace the fact that sometimes you’re not going to have the answers and that’s OK. It’s part of life! In most cases we need to wait for clarity to arrive. Maybe you don’t have all the information that you need yet or you are somehow blocking the answer from showing up by looking in the wrong places. The answer will show up when the time is right.

Create the Space for clarity to come into. Think about how it feels to be stuck in the place of not knowing. You feel tense and your energy is constricted and tight. You’re working really hard to find the answer, or you’re totally shut down and confused. This is not the right environment for answers to show up in. You’re not resonating with your solution. Try shifting your energy and making space for the answers to come into.

One way to do this is to walk away and go do something else for a while. Go do something fun. This serves two purposes. It allows your attention to shift and it helps change your vibration so that you’re resonating with your clarity. In many cases you come back to the problem and the answer appears.

Another thing you can try is to re-frame the way you are thinking and talking about not knowing. Try these phrases to create some space for the answer to come into.

Rather than saying- “I don’t know” try saying;

  • “In this moment I don’t know the answer but I will”
  • “I don’t know right now but I am open to receiving it”
  • “The answer is on its way to me right now”

Can you feel the difference when you change the language?

Finally, you can enlist the help of your higher self to find clarity. You can use common divination tools like tarot or a pendulum. You can ask the question that you seek an answer to when you are meditating and see what answers come. I like to ask for guidance when I am sleeping by asking for help with my question before I go to sleep. I find that I usually have a dream that gives me some answers or I wake up with some clarity.

The key in all of this is to stop pushing and trying to force an answer. Be gentle with yourself and loosen up your energy to create some space for your clarity to come in.
