I learned about Joe Heuer, the Rock and Roll Guru from my friend Dave Rendall when he featured him as Freak of the Week on his blog. When I read Joe’s awesome philosophy I was sold-

“We came here to groove, not to endure. We’re supposed to have fun and do what brings us juice and gives us passion. Do whatever makes your heart sing.”

Joe is a great example of someone who has embraced his Inner-Freak to identify what makes him unique and different. He is now rocking it out and sharing his gifts with the world as the Rock and Roll Guru.

I invited Joe to join me on My Kick-Ass Dream Life to discuss how he defied the box to create his Kick-Ass Life, and if we’re lucky, he will share some of his rock and roll philosophy

Come and Get Your Super Powers!!

Posted by: | Comments (1)

What if all the things that were considered to be weird, strange, and freaky about you, were really your Super Powers?

Stay with me for a minute here!

I believe that we each have something unique and special to bring to the world that only YOU can offer.

It makes sense right? We each have a unique perspective and our own special way of thinking about things. This is what makes us individuals. We all have a special something-something to share with the world.

It makes sense that our gifts might be considered to be a bit weird, strange and freaky if they are something that is unique to you. Other folks may not understand your differences and that often results in misunderstandings and judgment.

Do you know what your unique gifts are yet?

If not, I suggest that you start getting to know your Inner-Freak.

Your Inner-Freak is the part of you that is outside of the ordinary. It’s quirky, unusual, and eccentric.  It knows where your magic lies, what you are really good at, and what you will get the most satisfaction from. It also knows what will make you happy and is always on the lookout for fun. It’s that part of you that craves something different and is sick of trying to fit in. It wants to try all kinds’ funky stuff and be a bit wild.

Not only does your Inner-Freak know exactly what is unique and special about you, it has a direct line to the part of you that has the big picture perspective on your life. That’s why it’s not afraid to be different, or to go its own way. It knows where it’s headed.

Because of this, your Inner-Freak knows where your happiness and success can be found. It brings your own one-of-a-kind perspective to the world and does not care what everyone else thinks you should be doing. It’s what makes you different, unique and helps you access that special gift that only you can offer the world.

I like to say that your Inner-Freak is your Super Power! It has access to the special something that only you can share with the world.

The world needs your unique perspective and the gifts that only you can offer. Don’t be afraid to discover it and bring it out into the open. I guarantee that doing so will lead to a Kick-Ass Life!

I’d love to help you with this if you feel you need it. I invite you to set up a Kick-Ass Consultation to discuss how we can work together to access out your Inner-Freak in order to bring your unique gifts into the world.

Over the past few weeks in the Create Your Kick-Ass Life Program, we have been focusing on really knowing yourself. Part of that work has been entertaining the idea that you are better off spending your time and energy focusing on your strengths and building upon them than trying to fix your weaknesses.  This way of thinking is pretty much the opposite of what we are brought up to believe, so it can be an edgy place to stand.

This always brings up the question- Who gets to determine what your strengths are? Is it your parents? Society?  Your teachers?

In my mind, I’m the only one who can determine what my strengths are. I’m the only one who has all the inside information that is needed about how I feel when I’m doing something.

I know something is my strength when it feels really good to do it. I feel tapped in and turned on when I engage in it! My energy naturally goes there, and it feels fulfilling to me.

I want to point out that just because you are good at something, it doesn’t mean it’s one of your strengths and you should pursue it. I find the real determining factor is how you feel while engaging in it, and if you naturally have the energy to do it.

For example- I’m really good at working in restaurants. There has always been plenty of opportunity for me there. Outwardly I was very successful, but the reality was that it didn’t feel very good to me. Working in that environment totally stressed me out, and felt bad in so many different ways. I self medicated in a variety of ways to get through my week. Even thought I was good at it, it doesn’t mean it was good for me.

On the other hand, being a Kick-Ass Life Coach feels awesome. I’m totally in my flow when I’m coaching someone, and the results are always fantastic. It is effortless. I have tons of energy for it and I don’t need anything besides my inspiration to get through the day.

Lots of people thought I was crazy when I wanted to become a coach. They had never heard of it before and thought I was a trouble maker for wanting to help people question the “norms” in order to determine what was right for them. But I knew deep down inside that it was perfect for me and I would be well served by focusing my resources, and energy towards expanding my capabilities.

I curious, what are your strengths?

Are there any you have ignored because  someone told you they were not worth pursuing?

Inviting Your Inner-Freak Out to Play

Posted by: | Comments (1)

How do you get to know your Inner-Freak?

One way is to invite it out to play!

It’s sad and lonely when you lock it away.

That is exactly what so many of you have been doing for far too long!  Now is the perfect time to make friends with your Inner-Freak and allow it to teach you all it knows about what will make your life Kick-Ass.

Here are some simple ways to make friends with your Inner-Freak;

  1. Give yourself permission to be different and go your own way. Your Inner-Freak knows exactly what is unique and special about you, but because you have ignored it for so long, it needs your permission to come out and show you the way.
  2. Break out of the daily grind and boring routines buy doing one thing different everyday. Your Inner-Freak hates your mindless routine! It’s so boring! Shake things up a bit everyday, even if it’s something as small as driving to work a different way or switching up the order that wash in the shower. Keep yourself engaged and interested.
  3. Create quiet space to connect with your Inner-Freak. Your Inner-Freak has a wealth of information to share, but it is vitally important that you create some space to listen to it. Sit quietly everyday, go for a walk without the i-pod, journal, make art, or whatever feels good to you.
  4. Expand your horizons. Go to Burning Man, check out a cool new Meetup Group and meet some new people, do some research on the web about the place you always wanted to go, or explore a new part of the city. See what catches your eye. This is your Inner-Freak showing you the way.
  5. Give Yourself Permission to explore everything that is appealing to you – especially if you told yourself you can’t or shouldn’t do it. Let’s be clear, I’m not talking about going out and drinking a whole bottle of tequila. I do encourage you to give yourself permission to explore your dream of being a Dula or giving up your business in order to take that teaching job that sounds really appealing. If something is appealing to you explore it and try it on for sizeThe fact that it is appealing is your Inner-Freak telling you that there is something there for you.

Try a few of these things out and see what happens!

If you want to learn more about letting your Inner-Freak out to play, tune into My Kick-Ass Dream Life Radio today at 3 PM EST, and get in on the conversation.

If you can’t make the live show you can listen to the recording here: http://www.blogtalkradio.com/my-kick-ass-dream-life-/2010/11/03/invite-your-inner-freak-out-to-play

Why your Inner-Freak got a Bum Rap

Posted by: | Comments (0)

Last week on My Kick-Ass Dream Life, we started talking about your Inner-Freak.

We all have one.

The question is:  Do you trust  yours  and listen to it or not?

I find that many people have gotten really good at ignoring their Inner-Freak. They treat it like it is something to be hidden. They lock it away in some dark corner, and rarely let it out into the light of day.

Maybe that is why they have no idea what their version of a Kick-Ass Life looks like.

Not only does your Inner-Freak know exactly what will make your life totally Kick-Ass, it has a direct line to the part of you that has the big picture perspective on your life. That is why it’s not afraid to be different, or to go its own way. It knows where it’s headed.

I think your Inner-Freak got a bad rap because it likes to lead you off the beaten trail, and encourages you to try all kinds of things that other people might not be doing. It encourages you to be unique and quirky.

That can be a problem for some. It can seem dangerous and unwise, especially if you are trying to ‘fit-in’.

Hey…maybe it is.

But maybe it’s just what you need to discover what will bring you the most satisfaction, fun and meaning to your life.

What do you think?
