Is It Really Worth It?????

Posted by: Leah | Comments (1)

The topic of struggle and pushing through has been coming up again and again recently. This is what some of you are saying:

“I know…they say that mercury is retrograde….but come on! Does it really have to be this difficult?”

“I am on the verge of giving up my dream because I am so sick of wasting my vital life energy when I keep coming up against road block after road block. Is following my dream really worth it?”

Listen closely to this:

“YES IT IS!”

It is so worth it to go after your kick-ass dream life!

Your dreams and desires are leading you to your own unique higher purpose. They feel good to think about for a reason! They are in alignment with who you really are and what will bring you the most happiness, satisfaction, and meaning into your life. Your dreams are where the juicy goodness lives.

I am not going to sit here and tell you that going for your dream is easy, because it is not. There is definitely some work involved on your part, but it does not have to be a struggle or suck all your vital life energy.

This is the thing you need to realize: These blocks and obstacles are lessons that you need to learn in order to clear away all the old “baggage” that is not in alignment with your new kick-ass life. They are an indication that it is time to step back and look within, decide what would be better, or to try a new approach. You are going to make mistakes! Maybe even big mistakes!  It is not the end of the world. The better you get at tuning in and noticing how something is feeling and working for you, the sooner you can adjust your course. Then get right back to it and try something new until you discover what works for you!

If you find yourself struggling or feeling your energy drained, it is most likely because you are resisting the lesson, or trying to force your way through the obstacle. I know that this can be confusing, and frustrating!  It is all about looking inside and taking ownership of your experience and treating every challenge as an opportunity for growth.

I know that from personal experience this can be difficult to do on your own. I want you to know that I am here to help you with this if you will let me.  Signing up for this free webcast that is a great place to start!

Trapped, Miserable and Bitchy

Posted by: Leah | Comments (6)

This morning I was reading a post on the Freak Revolution blog and it really sounded familiar to me.

It reminded me of my own story.

About 8 years ago I was working in a restaurant and miserable. There are some differences between me and the “pie-fucker” that they are describing. I did not work at Chili’s and I did not suck at my job, but the misery was one and the same.

In my case, I worked at a high end steak house and was actually very good at my job, BUT I was miserable and pretty bitchy most of the time.

I felt trapped.

I wanted out but I had bills to pay. I was making 2 or 3 times as much money as I could as a new consular or therapist.

Besides, I did not really want to work mucking around in people’s problems. I knew that I wanted to do something along the lines of helping people, but I also was used to a certain standard of living. I felt stuck and did not see many options.

So, I sucked it up and stayed at the job I hated and bitched and moaned and complained about how awful it was.

I spent a lot of time looking for something to make me feel better. I went out for drinks most nights and partied a lot. When I was home alone, I always had the TV or the computer on…..sometimes both at the same time. I was trying to tune out that part of me that was crying out for something different.  Deep down inside I knew that my life could be different….that this could not be it…..but I was not sure what exactly it was that I was looking for.

Strangely enough, I would catch a glimpse of it every now and then. I would come across a stranger who seemed “shiny” to me and they would have a special sparkle in their eyes.  You could tell that their life did not suck.

All I knew was that I wanted some of what they had.

I had to break free of the miserable, meaningless life I was living. I got to the point where it was no longer ‘OK’ to remain at a job that I hated.

I wanted to like my job.

I wanted to enjoy my life and be inspired by it.

I decided to set off on a course of exploration and I did a bunch of thing I had never done. One of those things was to go to Burning Man. In a strange moment of displaced clarity I decide to follow my heart and become a life coach.

Was it scary?

YES!

Did I take a Risk?

You Bet!

I also doubted my choice a hundred times over, but in the end I am certain it was the best thing I ever did.

My life feels good to me now.

I am that ‘shiny’ person with the twinkle in her eye.

You know what?

I gets better and better every day.

Creating Opportunity

Posted by: Leah | Comments (0)

The other day, I was speaking with a perspective client about the lack of opportunities he had. He felt like he was stuck in an uninspiring job and he did not see anything interesting coming down the line. He was bored at work, tired of the same old thing day in and day out, and was wondering how he got there. He wondered why some people were always stumbling across exciting opportunities and why he never did.

I find this to be a common problem. Some people are constantly discovering opportunities and some people do not.

Why do you think that is?

This is what I have discovered: When you are TUNED IN and focusing your attention on what you want to create and what you want more of, you attract situations that allow you to experience that energy. The thing is most people spend their time tuning OUT and/or focusing on what they do not want. This results in more of the same boring thing. If you want something different to show up in your life, you have to put some different ideas out there.

I think the second part of the whole opportunity equation is that you only see what you are open to seeing. An old client of mine went through an enormous life transformation. She had followed the plan that was laid out for her in high school. She went to college and got a “practical” degree in accounting. She obtained a job in a top company and bought a condo in the city. She became bored and uninspired quickly! She longed for a more creative life where she could truly express herself. When we began working together she knew she wanted something different but did not know what that was. She could not figure out how to transition into a more creative lifestyle without having to give everything she worked so hard for up. As we worked together, she became clearer around who she was and what inspired her. She began to look at things differently. She discovered that there were so many possibilities and opportunities available to her. When we started, she could only see as far as the Box she had created for herself. When we finished working together, she had blown that box wide open and now was available to respond to many different opportunities that she never would have considered to begin with.
Is there somewhere in your life that you could use some new opportunities? Give me a call to see how I might help you. 617-524-0967
