Viva la Revolution! (Part 1)

Posted by: | Comments (1)

If you want to make money, you need to differentiate yourself from all the other people offering similar services. It doesn’t matter if you are a musician, healer or life transformation expert; you need to give people a compelling reason to hire YOU.

The question is- How do you go about doing that?

I’m going to say right up front this is not about the nuts and bolts of what you do and how you do it. There are plenty of coaches, musicians and healers out there, and everyone has different tools in their tool box. People don’t hire you because of how you do what you do. They hire you because they resonate with your message and what you stand for. They want to participate in the revolution that you are leading!

Claim Your Revolution!!!

When you are creating your own business it is all about you and what you bring into your biz. It’s your vision, skills, personality and perspective that you are selling. If you’re a freak like me-blindly following some guru’s blueprint for success won’t work .

Embracing who you are and what you stand for will get you much farther and it will feel way better. This is what flying your freak flag is all about!

I bet your thinking- Who me? Lead a revolution?  Am I even qualified to do that?

Oh yes you are!   I bet you already have one in mind, you just don’t know it yet, or you’ve been afraid to claim it.

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve coached someone to reveal their  revolution, but they back away from it already convinced that they can’t do it or no-body wants it.

Once they embrace it; things start shifting and new opportunities appear. Like the musician I worked with who wanted to be the Soul Drummer and lead the revolution of music as a spiritual practice. He embraced it and within a few weeks the money started rolling in. He landed a new steady gig with an awesome church band and attracted other musicians who feel the same way that he now collaborates with.

Discovering your Revolution

Let’s start with identifying your unique perspective.

We all have a unique perspective and way of seeing the world; let’s call it your point of view. Your point of view is what you know to be true and feel passionate about. It’s the thing that drives you and the wisdom that you live by. It’s also what makes you special and unique. It’s always there whether you recognize it or not.

Take the time to identify your point of view and be conscious of it. Doing so helps you stay true to you, and sends out a powerful signal that attracts other people who resonate with it into your experience. They will quickly become your friends and allies.

Here is my point of view- I am here to be fully self-expressed and create my life anyway I want too and you are too! We are both here to fly our freak flags high and proud and do the things that feel totally kick-ass to us. I’m responsible for all my OWN outcomes and happiness…just like you. When we take 100% responsibility for our own lives and do what feels best to us; our lives will be totally kick-ass and we will be tapped into our ever abundant flow.

What’s your point of view?

This piece can be tricky because it requires you to take a stand and have a strong opinion.

How does that feel to you?

I see so many entrepreneurs who are hesitant to take a stand! Is this you too?

You don’t want to offend anyone or miss out on potential clients who don’t have the same point of view, so you water down your message and get wishy-washy with your opinions and become a jack-of-all-things. This back fires because then people get confused about what  you do so they don’t buy from you, or you end up doing a bunch of work you don’t want to do.

You want to have an opinion and to take a stand for what you believe in- in your life and your biz! There is nothing worse than someone who is whishy-washy and doesn’t take a stand for anything.  It’s hard to trust them or know who they are.

People buy from people they resonate with!

Ok…I know this is getting a bit long….in the next few days I’ll post you- Viva La Revolution Part 2- where I talk about how to come up with your specific revolution.

For now – spend some time identifying your point of view and send me what you come up with in the comment section down below.

What Do You Stand For?

Posted by: | Comments (0)

This month I’m part of a really cool program called the Morning Whip.  I’m in the process of fine tuning my biz to focus on working with non-conforming entrepreneurs who want to eliminate completion, stand out and shine, and make more money by flying their freak flag.

Since I know I’m very easily distracted by shiny things- the Daily Whip seemed like the perfect solution. I’m happy to say that it is totally working!!  I’m so clear on what my next steps are and I feel like I’ve gotten some serious momentum going now. Yay!! Plus I’m meeting some really cool women.

One of the assignments is to get crystal clear on your view point and revolution. Both pieces are essential because they allow you to take a stand for what you believe in and what you offer the world. This is crucial because the clearer you are on what you stand for and what you offer, the stronger the signal you’re sending out to the Universe- the faster the Universe will send opportunities to do it your way.

Your view point and revolution are unique to you. They are part of your freak flag, and when you wave it high and proud, it makes it really easy for the people who resonate with what you are offering to find you and buy from you.

Your view point is what makes you special, unique and different. It’s what you know to be true and feel passionate about. It’s the thing that drives you and the wisdom that you live by.

Your revolution is what pisses you off, what you see that’s missing and what you’re going to do about it.

This is such an important piece for entrepreneurs, especially if you are a coach, healer or other life transformation expert. This is the piece that will differentiate you from all the rest so that you don’t get lost in the crowd.

Do you know what your point of view and revolution is?

This is what I’ve come up with for mine.

My View Point

I am here to be fully self-expressed and create my life anyway I want too and you are too! We are both here to fly our freak flags high and proud and spend our time doing things that feel totally kick-ass.

I’m responsible for all my OWN outcomes and happiness…just like you.

There is no reason to stay stuck in any situation that feels sucky…EVER!!!

When I am fully self-expressed, taking 100% responsibility for my own life and doing what feels best to me; my life is totally kick-ass and I’m tapped into my ever abundant flow.

Mmmmmm….that feels good to think about!

My Revolution

It makes me crazy to see amazing, talented musicians, artists, healers and coaches struggling to survive and feeling like they need to give up their dreams and settle for a crappy job in order to be successful and make money!

Settling sucks!

Sure you might make some money if you go back to that soul-sucking job you used to have, but what about the quality of your life and your desire to be self-expressed and do what you love?

Giving up and conforming is not the way to go! Success lies in the opposite direction………..

The way to be successful is to stand out and shine by bringing more of you into your biz! Think about it. The most well known successful people got that way by doing their own thing. Oprah, Steve Jobs, Madonna, Sir Richard Branson, and Donald Trump all followed their dreams and played by their own rules. They are innovators. They did what they wanted to do the way they wanted to do it.

My revolution is showing musicians and entrepreneurs that the way to make money is to be full self-expressed and to fly your freak flag high and proud.

Be yourself-do what you love-own your talents-do things your way-stand out and shine!

Doesn’t that sound way better than settling and conforming?

I’d love to hear what your view point and revolution is! Share away in the comments down below.

Are Expectations Part of the Evil Empire?

Posted by: | Comments (0)

How often do you end up doing things you don’t really want to do because it’s expected of you?

You go to collage right out of high school because your parents expected you too….or you get married and have kids because it’s what your partner expects. Then you spend all your free time running your kids around because you’re expected to. That’s what parents do.

I know someone who went to law school because that is what was expected. The fact that they had no interest in becoming a lawyer was irrelevant. They ended up spending $100,000 and wasting years of their life on something that they hated. Only to ditch it later when they woke up and decided to take their life back.

I let myself get totally burnt out and sick working 70 hours a week as a restaurant manager because it was expected of me. That was before I smartened up and decided that I was in charge of my time and how much I worked.

Living according to other people expectations is a slippery slope that often dumps you right into a pre-packaged life that feels crappy. Matter of fact- the first step towards defying the box and flying your freak flag is choosing NOT to live according to other people expectations.

This  makes expectations seem like they are a bad thing…but is that really true?

I’m certain that having to live up to someone else’s expectations sucks!  It’s limiting and tends to end up with you trying to cram yourself into a box of conformity. Not so very kick-ass!

BUT- I think expectations are helpful in some instances. Knowing what is expected of you in your job or by your partner is very helpful! It makes things flow much easier because you know what someone wants you to do. There’s no guess work.

AND- Having your own expectations for how things will go and what you will do is extremely helpful from an energetic perspective.

You get what you expect- any LOA student knows that.

Picturing how you want things to be, using your intention and expecting that it will turn out as you wish is powerful magic. It’s how I create my Kick-Ass Life!  What about you?

I think expectations are sucky when they are forced on you and there is no clear communication about what is expected so you can say “yes” or “no” to it. I see this happen in relationships all the time.

Hell, I sometimes do it!! I used to expect that my boyfriend would automatically come to all family events with me….because that’s what you did- in my mind at least. He preferred for me to invite him and let him choose whether he wanted to come or not. I’d get so mad when he said he needed to think about going.

Our relationship got much better once we started discussing our expectations with each other, and each of us having the option to choose which exceptions we wanted to play along with.

It’s all about the choice. (Isn’t everything??)

I know that some philosophies say to release expectations- but that’s a bunch of bullshit! We’re human and part of being human is having an opinion on how you want things to be in your life. That is what helps you live the life you want to live.

What I think we could stand to release is the belief that everyone knows what we expect and has to live up to it. When it comes right down to it, your outcome is up to you. No one else is responsible for it. You can have all the expectations that you want, but it’s all on you to make sure they play out.

Perhaps the secret is to become aware of what your expectations are. Then let people know what they are and give them the choice to play along or not. Just like you have the option of playing along with theirs or not.

I’d love to hear your thoughts on this.

Are expectaions helpful or not?

What are some of yours and how do they serve you?

From Demoralized to Kick-Ass!

Posted by: | Comments (1)

I want to share my story of transformation with you, so you know its possible.  It will also explain why I’m so confidant that I can help you do the same.

About 10 years ago I was just like you; feeling trapped and demoralized in a job-and a life-that was sucking me dry.

I was working at a high-end restaurant. I worked hard and I played hard. I was making CRAZY money and all my ducks were in a row.

But my soul was in a serious jam.

I didn’t really like what I was doing, even though I was great at it.

And the people I was spending most of my time with — my work colleagues — weren’t too inspiring either. They didn’t get me, and it was exhausting trying to fit in.

Eventually, I just stopped trying.

The worst part was that I felt trapped in this situation . I had bills to pay, I needed the money, and everyone told me that I would be crazy to leave such a high paying job.

So, I sucked it up and began to believe that this was just the way it had to be .

I was frustrated and uninspired. As a result I was pretty bitchy most of the time.

I found myself desperate for more fun and meaning in my life.

I spent a lot of time looking for something to make me feel better. I went out for drinks most nights and partied a lot. When I was home alone, I always had the TV or the computer on, sometimes both at the same time. I was trying to tune out that part of me that was crying out for something different.

Deep down inside I knew that my life could be different, that this couldn’t be ‘it’, but I was not sure exactly what ‘it’ was that I was looking for.

Strangely enough, I would catch a glimpse of it every now and then. I would come across a stranger who seemed “shiny” to me and they would have a special sparkle in their eyes. I could tell that their life did not suck.

All I knew was that I wanted some of what they had.

I had to break free of the frustrating, meaningless life I was living.

I wanted to like my job.

I wanted to enjoy my life and be inspired by it.

I wanted to stop hiding who I really was.

I felt like there was so much more in me, but I had NO IDEA how to access that.

I got to the point where it was no longer ‘OK’ to remain at a job that I hated and to be so unsatisfied by my life.I was fed up with feeling demoralized and my employer telling me I was lucky to have a job.

I started looking for a way out but didn’t feel like I had many options. I could use my Social Psych degree but how would I survive on entry level pay? I couldn’t bare the thought of another restaurant job! It would just be more of the same bullshit! I felt trapped!

I reached the point where I was about to snap!

I was getting sick a lot and feeling depressed. One day I  loudly declared  “I just need a break!” and that is exactly what I got. Later that day I was walking to my car, carrying some groceries, and I stumbled off the curb and had a big dramatic fall into the street, groceries flying everywhere. I broke my foot and severely sprained my ankle and was out of work for 6 weeks.

This accident made something clicked inside me and I knew something had to change. I couldn’t keep living like this. While I was on the mend I had lots of time on my hands to think about what my life had become. I read the book the Four Agreements and something shifted.

I realized that I could change things. I wasn’t a victim. I didn’t have to settle for a sucky life! I had no idea how it was all going to work out, but I trusted that it would.

I embarked on the journey of re-discovering who I had become and who I wanted to be. I took a new job doing behavior modification with autistic kids and learned all about identifying cause and effect. It felt awesome to leave my old unsatisfying job behind!

The new job wasn’t the perfect fit for me but it got me headed in the right direction. Then I saw Dr. Phil on Oprah and new that I wanted to do what he did! I loved the way he helped people take responsibility for their lives and take effective actions to change the things that didn’t work for them. I did some research and discovered life coaching, but I wasn’t sure I could really make it happen.

I decided I needed to shake up my perspective so I set out to explore and experiment and try some things on for size. I did a lot of things I had never done before and went on some wild adventures. Then when I was at Burning Man something clicked and I decided to pursue what I was really interested in-Life Coaching! When I returned I signed up for a 2 year program at Coach U.

I also participated in the Priestess Path Apprenticeship and embraced my spiritual self. Between the Priestess Path and coaching school I cracked my head open and looked deep inside.

Those two years were all about self discovery and releasing that which didn’t serve me. I came out the other side a different person. I was centered, grounded and clear and nothing could stop me from creating the Kick-Ass Life that I wanted to live.

My life transformation took years of earnest work and personal determination, but I can happily say that it was worth it.

My life fits me perfectly now. I live in a beautiful condo in Boston, Massachusetts. I’m surrounded by mermaids, play with my kitties, get to talk to clients from my mermaid corner, hang out with my amazing and talented friends, enjoy my sexy boyfriend, and find new and interesting things to expand my mind and heart each week. I am deeply satisfied in all aspects of my life.

I’m a coach who loves her work, helping non-conforming souls, like you, identify the pre-packaged beliefs that stand in the way of your living your Kick-Ass Dream Life.

I can help you break free from your pre-packaged life to create the kick-ass life of your dreams.

I’ve been there and I know what it takes to go from feeling trapped and demoralized to Kick-Ass!

I know that the Kick-Ass Discovery Group is just what you need to make your move.

Let me help you transform your life!
