The Power of Asking What and Why
Posted by: | CommentsI love this thought from Abraham-Hicks
When you talk about what you want and why you want it, there’s usually less resistance within you than when you talk about what you want and how you’re going to get it. When you pose questions you don’t have answers for, like how, where, when, who, it sets up a contradictory vibration that slows everything down.
— Abraham
Can you notice the difference in how it feels when you think about the WHAT and the WHY of your dream vs. when you think about the details of how it is going to happen?
Try it out and see what you notice.

A New Way to Approach Transforming your Life
Posted by: | CommentsHave you ever had a big dream that you were really excited about, but you ended up abandoning it because you could not figure out HOW to make it happen?
Back in the day, this happen to me all the time. I would end up totally frustrated and stressed out and then decide that I really did not want it anyway (which was a bunch of crap).
Then I learned a new way of approaching things that totally shifted everything for me.
I learned how to come into alignment with the energy of my dream before I take action. You do this by feeling good first, then taking action from that good feeling place.
Now you may be asking: “How could that possibly work?”
It is simple really.
Being in alignment literally means: to line up with.
When you are in alignment with something the way is open and your path becomes clear, and as a result, the details around “how” to bring it into being become clear.
I imagine that this big dream of yours feels really good to you. In order to be in alignment with your dream, you need to feel good too.
As you come into alignment with your dream you begin to get all kinds of inspired action ideas. Suddenly you know exactly what to do. Perhaps you are inspired to email someone, or take a walk where you run into just the right person, or you suddenly see an ad for just what you need.
Think about it for a minute. On days that you are feeling good and in the flow, don’t things seem to easily unfold for you?
Those days that you are feeling bad and cranky, nothing seems to be going your way.
When you are feeling good, you are in alignment.
When you are feeling bad, you aren’t.
Get in alignment and your path becomes clear!
The next question is: “How do I get into alignment with my big dream?”
I will cover that next time.
The truth of the matter is …….it’s going to be uncomfortable.
Posted by: | CommentsPart of being a rabble-rouser is stirring things up and making you think. I want you to question stuff and not settle for anything less than what feels meaningful, exciting, fun, and fulfilling to you.
But, I also want to be truthful with you.
Changing your life and committing to going after your dream is going to take some effort and I suspect that some of the time you are going to feel uncomfortable.
Really uncomfortable!
Uncomfortable enough for you to say: “Why the hell am I doing this?”
So, let’s talk about what this discomfort is all about.
The discomfort stems from you expanding out beyond your comfort zone.
When you commit to going after your dream and begin to claim it for yourself, you set the Universe into motion. It begins sending you all the lessons that you need to learn in order to fully resonate and embody the energy of your kick-ass dream life.
Let’s face it……..if you were already embodying this energy you would be living your dream life right now not trying to create it.
So in order to step into your dream you need to:
- stretch and expand
- learn some lessons and gain some clarity
- release some old stories.
That is why all the obstacles and uncomfortable feeling start to show up.
If you can regard your discomfort as the lessons, and the opportunity for clarity and expansion that it provides and meet it head on, then you will soon be enjoying the pleasure and satisfaction of living your kick-ass dream life.
I look at it the same way I look at getting a tattoo or piercing. It only hurts for a short time, and the payoff lasts for a lifetime. To me the discomfort is worth it. (Although, I will say there are some piercing I probably would not do again.)
The questions is: Is it worth it to you?
Fear is Soooooo Tricky……..
Posted by: | CommentsToday on Defy the Box Radio I talked about fear.
Strangely enough, I was fearful about doing the show…which is very unusual for me.
But this was the first time with the new show format and I was doing things in more of a questions and answer kind of way, with a bit of “spotlight” coaching thrown in. I was on my own with no co-host or guest to interview, and I was nervous about talking to myself and having to fill up all the space. It felt awkward and I was certainly having a hard time getting into my flow. Things shifted once I opened up the line and did some coaching……that feels so natural to me and I am in my flow when I am doing it.
I do think I am going to continue my quest to find a co-host if you think your might know someone. That will certainly help make it more fun for me……which usually translates to more fun for everyone.
But I am rambling here…..lets get back to the topic of fear.
Fear is one of the main reasons that people hire me. They want to make some big changes in their lives and they are afraid to do it.
Fear is tricky…it shows up in all kinds of disguises.
Anxiety
Nervousness
Worry
Self-doubt
Resistance
Anger
Confusion
Jealousy
Excuses
Cluelessness ( is that even a word?)
Procrastination
Today fear showed up disguised as nervousness and confusion for me.
I was edgy, uncomfortable and my mind was feeling pretty blank. I admit it sucked, but I got through it.
So what is our fear trying to tell us…or do for us?
Seth Godin does an amazing job of breaking this all down in his book Linchpin: Are You Indispensable? . ( I highly suggest reading it.) I am going to give you the condensed version here.
Originally, fears purpose was survival, but now it mostly keeps you from expanding into your highest potential.
Your fear response is one of the oldest parts of you. It comes from the part of your brain referred to as the “Lizard Brain”. It’s original purpose was to help you survive. Its goal is to keep you small and hidden so that you blend in and don’t get eaten! Your fear wants’ you to be part of the pack because you are more likely to survive. It is just trying to keep you alive!
But the reality is that we don’t need to worry about getting eaten anymore.
Funny how the idea of standing out from the crowd and being really seen in our full unique glory can inspire fear in the best of us. (It’s the Lizard Brain just doing its job.)
The cool thing is that humans have evolved to the point where we can focus our attention on creativity and living a meaningful life. We have more ability to focus on our own expansion.
I suspect that if you are reading this, you are focused on YOUR own expansion.
So now that we know what fear is…….what do you do about it?
I have an awesome 3 step process for kicking fear’s ass that I will share with you next time……..
Make A Career of Living Happy
Posted by: | CommentsI am a big fan of Abraham -Hicks! Every morning I get a quote from them in my in box. Lately they have been shouting out to me to spread them around.
So here you have it :
A very good career choice would be to gravitate toward those activities and to embrace those desires that harmonize with your core intentions, which are freedom and growth—and joy. Make a “career” of living a happy life rather than trying to find work that will produce enough income that you can do things with your money that will then make you happy. When feeling happy is of paramount importance to you—and what you do “for a living” makes you happy—you have found the best of all combinations.
— Abraham
Excerpted from the book “Money and the Law of Attraction: Learning to Attract Health, Wealth and Happiness” #274Make career of living happy
I have to say that I made the choice to ‘live happy’ a few years ago and it has greatly impacted my experience in life. Sometimes it is work to keep my attention focused on the things that make me happy. I had 38 years of focusing on all the stuff I did not like or want and it was a hard habit to break. But it was well worth it!
This book is a great resource:
