It may sound odd, but the fastest way to get to a new-and-improved situation is to make peace with your current situation. By making lists of the most positive aspects you can find about your current situation, you then release your resistance to the improvements that are waiting for you. But if you rail against the injustices of your current situation, you hold yourself in Vibrational alignment with what you do not want, and you cannot then move in the direction of improvement. It defies Law.
In every particle of the Universe, there is that which is wanted – and the lack of it.

These are wise words!

Maybe you can’t stand your job, your mother is driving you crazy, or your roommate is a pain in the ass, whatever is happening that is making you frustrated, stressed out and annoyed can easily be shifted by allowing yourself to focus some energy on something that you like about the person , place or thing that you are dealing with. Create some space to feel better.

If you are cranky, aggravated, stressed out….that is all you are going to see…there won’t be room for anything else to show up.

Focus on what is working and what you want more of and you will soon see that things shift a bit, open up and you can now experience the change in the dynamic that you seek.

My Secret Weapon For Feeling Satisfied

Posted by: | Comments (3)

Get ready, I am going to out myself here.

I recently found myself in the place of feeling dissatisfied with just about everything. Feeling like I am not doing enough, fast enough, to realize my vision for what I want to create. I was beginning to feel frustrated and a bit inadequate.

This is not an unfamiliar place for me. I lived firmly in this place for most of my 43 years. I was always dissatisfied and looking for ways to fix things, do them differently, and improve upon whatever was in front of me. I guess you could say I was driven and determined. I was always stressed out and frustrated. There was always something else to do. I was never done. I would get burnt out and found myself sick a lot of the time. My body was screaming at me to slow down and take a break from all the dissatisfaction and striving.

And I did get a break in the form of a severely sprained ankle and broken foot and was forced to take 6 weeks off from my job. This was a blessing in disguise because it allowed me to catch up on my reading. I read two books by Don Miguel Ruiz, The Four Agreements and The Mastery of Love, and I started on my path of transformation.

I went to coaching school and did the Priestess Path Apprenticeship. I became a student of the Law of Attraction. I recognized that all my striving, frustration and stress was not going to get me where I wanted to be. It became very clear to me that spending so much of my time and energy focused on what was not working for me and what needed to be “fixed” was only getting me more dissatisfaction, stress and frustration. I learned to shift my focus to what was working, and what I wanted more of. When I was experiencing something that I did not want, I learned to ask myself “What would be better?” in order to use the contrast of what I did not want to my advantage.

It became very clear to me that I needed to embrace the practice of celebrating my accomplishments. I was good at seeing what I wanted to be different and doing what needed to be done to create that change, but I never took the time to appreciate what I had accomplished. I would just move right on into the next thing. I created a daily practice of celebrating my accomplishments and noticing what I loved about myself. This practice became my secret weapon. I began to feel deeply satisfied and proud of myself. My entire experience changed for the better and life got easier.

Because this shift was so powerful for me, I decided to anchor it into my being by participating in an intentional tattoo ceremony. I choose an image that represented to me the balance between hard work and celebration. The ceremony was beautiful. Many of my peeps were holding space for me and my intention for maintaining the practice of celebrating. They danced, sang, drummed and soothed me during the process. A powerful priest/ healer/tattoo artist infused the ink with the energy of my intention. Two and a half hours later the ceremony was finished and I had a beautiful new tattoo. Every time I look at it I remember the meaning behind it and the importance of celebrating my hard work. This tattoo became part of my secret weapon for satisfaction.

So, how could I find myself back in the familiar place of dissatisfaction and frustration?!?

I stopped celebrating my accomplishments. I was so busy focusing on what was not here yet; I did not see all that I have created.

Thank God my business coach gave me a smack down and straightened me out. Once I took a step back and took note of how far I have come and all the things I have created, I realized that I was rockin’ it out and just forgot to notice. ;-)

I will say that during the Summer Solstice gathering this past weekend I did make a point to reaffirm my intention to celebrate my accomplishments everyday and appreciate all that goodness that is around me.

I am happy to report that I am feeling on top of my game and deeply satisfied. The secret weapon is working once again.

Have you ever felt stuck in a rut, and miserable, and you just can’t see anyway out of it?

This is the problem that has brought many of my clients to me. They are feeling stuck in an uncomfortable situation and they just can’t see their way out. They want help escaping the rut and creating a life that feels good to them. The first place we start is by looking for the pre-packaged beliefs that are keeping them stuck.

What’s a Pre-Packaged Belief?

A pre-packaged belief is a story that you tell yourself about how the word works, or what is possible. These stories might be handed down to you by your family, or the people around you, or even the media. It is usually something you have heard over and over and you believe it to be true. The thing is, these stories are not necessarily true…especially for you.

Trying to live by these pre-package beliefs causes discomfort, is extremely challenging, and ultimately it doesn’t  work for you. The end result is that you feel like there is something wrong with you because you can’t make it work, and you feel trapped in a situation that is totally not working for you.

Here’s and Example

I used to work with sincere, intelligent, magical guy who had just turned 30. He came to me because he was struggling in his job as a warehouse manager. He was stressed out and overwhelmed most of the time. He wanted help finding a way to make it bearable.

We soon uncovered the issue. He was really a musician at heart. Playing music put him into the bliss zone and made him come alive. He went to The Berkley School of  Music and even toured with a band. But he left the music life because he wanted to get serious and settle down. It was interesting to discover that  he had bought into the story that you could not make enough money to survive as a musician!

His father had drilled it into his head that he needed a secure job with a steady income in order to get ahead and survive. So, that is what he did. He left making music for his spare time, and got a decent paying, secure job.

The problem with this is that his “secure job” left him feeling depleted and depressed and he did not have the energy to make music. He began to doubt himself and started to feel like there was something wrong with him for not being happy and satisfied in his good, secure job as a warehouse manager.

Let’s Switch this Story Around!

I asked him to re-write his story about making money as a musician.

What if you could make enough money to THRIVE  as a musician? What would that look like?

As he began to explore what this might look like, he began to become aware of a number of different possibilities around how this might work. I gave him some homework that allowed him to connect with this energy on a deeper level, and I taught him some tricks to use to help him stay connected to his new story of being a successful musician.

Next thing you know he had a plan. He decided to move to Atlanta and tap into the music scene there. I just heard from him the other day. After being in Atlanta for 4 months, he has lined up enough work as a professional musician to pay the bills and then some. He is living his dream and making money too. He has tapped into his ever abundant flow and life feels great!

I can help you tap into your ever abundant flow too! Check out my services page to see how we can work together to do this.
